Welcome to FreeBSD Software

FreeBSD irc : xchat-gnome

An IRC client for GNOME 2 (development version)

Note that xchat-gnome is very young project and is under heavy development.
You can consider xchat-gnome as alpha software, not that its unstable
but in lack of (not-yet) implemented features.

Xchat-gnome is a fork of the popular xchat irc client.
But the difference between the two is that xchat-gnome aims at better
gnome integration.

For help see the website or visit #xchat-gnome on irc.freenode.net

xchat-gnome history

v. 1.161
date: 2007/10/27 08:51:28; author: delphij; state: Exp; lines: +1 -2
Update to 0.18

v. 1.160 date: 2007/10/24 23:35:59; author: marcus; state: Exp; lines: +1 -1 Presenting GNOME 2.20.1 and all related works for FreeBSD. The official GNOME 2.20 release notes can be found at http://www.gnome.org/start/2.20/notes/en/ . Beyond that, this update includes the new GIMP 2.4 (courtesy of ahze). The GNOME 2.20 update also includes a huge change in the FreeBSD GNOME hierarchy. We are now using the more standard DATADIR of ${PREFIX}/share rather than ${PREFIX}/share/gnome. The result is that fewer patches and hacks are needed to port GNOME components to FreeBSD. This will mean some user changes may be required, so be sure to read /usr/ports/UPDATING for more details. This release and the things we accomplished in it would not have been possible without mezz's crazy idea to collapse DATADIR, and his persistence to make it happen successfully. Ahze and pav also deserve thanks for their work on porting modules and testing the whole ball of wax on pointyhat (respectively). The FreeBSD GNOME team would also like to thank our various testers and contributors: Yasuda Keisuke Frank Jahnke Pawel Worach Brian Gruber Franz Klammer Yuri Pankov Nick Barkas Cristian KLEIN Tony Maher Scot Hetzel Martin Matuska (mm) Benoit Dejean Martin Wilke (miwi) (And anyone else I may have missed) PRs fixed in this release: 111272, 113470, 115995, 116338

To be able to conditionalize the inclusion of bsd.perl.mk, they now need to be defined before the inclusion of bsd.port.pre.mk. Hat: portmgr

v. 1.145 date: 2005/11/15 06:49:42; author: ade; state: Exp; lines: +1 -1 Mass-conversion to the USE_AUTOTOOLS New World Order. The code present in bsd.autotools.mk essentially makes this a no-op given that all the old variables set a USE_AUTOTOOLS_COMPAT variable, which is parsed in exactly the same way as USE_AUTOTOOLS itself. Moreover, USE_AUTOTOOLS has already been extensively tested by the GNOME team -- all GNOME 2.12.x ports use it. Preliminary documentation can be found at: http://people.FreeBSD.org/~ade/autotools.txt which is in the process of being SGMLized before introduction into the Porters Handbook. Light blue touch-paper. Run.

As japanese/xchat "built" without a problem, I didn't notice it was "broken"... In reality, the configure script failed to detect the iconv library because of the removal of CPPFLAGS and LIBS in CONFIGURE_ENV, therefore the built binary lacked Japanese support. (i.e. the ja-xchat package included in 4.2-RELEASE will be broken) To avoid this kind of sad accidents in future, add a note to irc/xchat that it has a slave port and one should be careful not to overwrite variables or targets.

The FreeBSD GNOME team would also like to thank our various testers and contributors: Yasuda Keisuke Frank Jahnke Pawel Worach Brian Gruber Franz Klammer Yuri Pankov Nick Barkas Cristian KLEIN Tony Maher Scot Hetzel Martin Matuska (mm) Benoit Dejean Martin Wilke (miwi) (And anyone else I may have missed) PRs fixed in this release: 111272, 113470, 115995, 116338

v. 1.68 date: 2000/11/06 19:39:42; author: knu; state: Exp; lines: +8 -3 Fix japanese/xchat which had been broken by the last two commits on irc/xchat.
