The FreeBSD Ports Archive
FreeBSD devel : bonobo4>
The component and compound document system for GNOME
Bonobo is a set of language and system independant CORBA
interfaces for creating reusable components and creating compound
documents.
The Bonobo distribution includes a Gtk+ based implementation of the
Bonobo interfaces, enabling developers to create reusable components
and applications that can be used to form more complex documents.

v. 1.71
date: 2007/10/24 23:35:02; author: marcus; state: Exp; lines: +2 -2
Presenting GNOME 2.20.1 and all related works for FreeBSD. The official
GNOME 2.20 release notes can be found at
http://www.gnome.org/start/2.20/notes/en/ . Beyond that, this update
includes the new GIMP 2.4 (courtesy of ahze).
The GNOME 2.20 update also includes a huge change in the FreeBSD GNOME
hierarchy. We are now using the more standard DATADIR of ${PREFIX}/share
rather than ${PREFIX}/share/gnome. The result is that fewer patches and
hacks are needed to port GNOME components to FreeBSD. This will mean some
user changes may be required, so be sure to read /usr/ports/UPDATING for
more details.
This release and the things we accomplished in it would not have been
possible without mezz's crazy idea to collapse DATADIR, and his persistence
to make it happen successfully. Ahze and pav also deserve thanks for
their work on porting modules and testing the whole ball of wax on
pointyhat (respectively).
The FreeBSD GNOME team would also like to thank our various testers and
contributors:

making all the distfiles unfetachable. Update all GNOME ports that fetch
from MASTER_SITE_GNOME to fetch from the correct location.
v. 1.54
date: 2002/07/11 17:15:57; author: sobomax; state: Exp; lines: +5 -10
Convert all core GNOME1 components and some of the most popular GNOME1
apps to bsd.gnomeng.mk. The goal is to make GNOME1 framework more modular,
which will allow to use GNOME1 apps with GNOME2 desktop as well as considerably
reduce langht of dependency chains for GNOME1 ports (for example after this
commit AbiWord's dependency chain was reduced by 7 ports from 57 to only
50, while Gnumeric's - from 60 to 53 and so on).
The most of the GNOME1 apps are still not converted, so that lot of work is
still ahead.
Please report any unusual problems to gnome@FreeBSD.org.
