v. 1.50
date: 2007/10/24 23:35:19; author: marcus; state: Exp; lines: +2 -2
Presenting GNOME 2.20.1 and all related works for FreeBSD. The official
GNOME 2.20 release notes can be found at
http://www.gnome.org/start/2.20/notes/en/ . Beyond that, this update
includes the new GIMP 2.4 (courtesy of ahze).

The GNOME 2.20 update also includes a huge change in the FreeBSD GNOME
hierarchy. We are now using the more standard DATADIR of ${PREFIX}/share
rather than ${PREFIX}/share/gnome. The result is that fewer patches and
hacks are needed to port GNOME components to FreeBSD. This will mean some
user changes may be required, so be sure to read /usr/ports/UPDATING for
more details.

This release and the things we accomplished in it would not have been
possible without mezz's crazy idea to collapse DATADIR, and his persistence
to make it happen successfully. Ahze and pav also deserve thanks for
their work on porting modules and testing the whole ball of wax on
pointyhat (respectively).

The FreeBSD GNOME team would also like to thank our various testers and
contributors:

Yasuda Keisuke
Frank Jahnke
Pawel Worach
Brian Gruber
Franz Klammer
Yuri Pankov
Nick Barkas
Cristian KLEIN
Tony Maher
Scot Hetzel
Martin Matuska (mm)
Benoit Dejean
Martin Wilke (miwi)
(And anyone else I may have missed)

This fix ports to use the correct mtree when you change the prefix, for example: Incorrect: (Without USE_X_PREFIX) ================================ # cd /usr/ports/x11-toolkits/gtk20 # make -V MTREE_FILE /etc/mtree/BSD.x11-4.dist # make PREFIX=/tmp/foo -V MTREE_FILE /etc/mtree/BSD.local.dist <-- Here... ================================ Correct: (With USE_X_PREFIX) ================================ # cd /usr/ports/x11-toolkits/gtk20 # make -V MTREE_FILE /etc/mtree/BSD.x11-4.dist # make PREFIX=/tmp/foo -V MTREE_FILE /etc/mtree/BSD.x11-4.dist <-- Here... ================================ - Change a several of *-reference ports to install in LOCALBASE instead X11BASE, but only two gtkmm*-reference couldn't be change at the moment. v. 1.38 date: 2005/03/12 10:39:22; author: marcus; state: Exp; lines: +4 -5 Presenting GNOME 2.10 for FreeBSD! The release notes can be found at http://www.gnome.org/start/2.10/notes/rnwhatsnew.html, and will give you a good idea of what has gone into this release overall. However, a lot of FreeBSD specific additions and fixes have been made. For example, this release offers fixed ACPI support as well as new CPU freqeuncy monitoring support. See the FreeBSD GNOME 2.10 upgrade page at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/faq210.html for the entire list as well as a list of known issues and upgrade instructions. GNOME 2.10, as well as all of our releases, would not be possible without the great team that goes into porting and testign each and every component. Thanks definitely goes out to ahze, adamw, bland, kwm, mezz, and pav for all their work. We would also like to thank our adventurous users that chose to ride the walrus. We'd especially like to thank the following users that provided patches for GNOME 2.10: ade Yasuda Keisuke Franz Klammer Khairil Yusof Radek Kozlowsk And anyone else I may have accidentally omitted. As with GNOME 2.8, 2.10 comes with a brand-spankin' new splashscreen courtesy of Franz Klammer. However, unlike GNOME 2.8, we've included all of the FreeBSD GNOME splashscreen entries with gnomesession. You can use the deskutils/splashsetter port to choose the one you like best. As always, GNOME users should _not_ use portupgrade alone to upgrade to 2.10. Instead, get the gnome_upgrade.sh script from http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/gnome_upgrade.sh. Enjoy!
v. 1.37 date: 2004/11/23 19:33:05; author: mezz; state: Exp; lines: +2 -0 Use new GCONF_SCHEMAS. Approved by: pav
v. 1.36 date: 2004/11/23 02:22:59; author: mezz; state: Exp; lines: +1 -0 Use new INSTALLS_OMF. Approved by: bland, kwm, marcus and pav
v. 1.35 date: 2004/11/07 22:36:04; author: marcus; state: Exp; lines: +1 -1 Bump PORTREVISIONS for all ports that depend on atk or pango to ease in the big upgrade.
v. 1.34 date: 2004/07/09 17:42:02; author: marcus; state: Exp; lines: +1 -1 Apply a big libtool patch to allow porters to use the libtool installed by the libtoolX ports instead of the one included with each port. Ports that set USE_LIBTOOL_VER=X will now use the ports version of libtool instead of the included version. To restore previous behavior, use the new macro, USE_INC_LIBTOOL_VER. Both macros accept the same argument: a libtool version. For example, to use the ports version of libtool-1.5, add the following to your Makefile: USE_LIBTOOL_VER= 15 To use the included version of libtool with extra hacks provided by libtool-1.5, add the following to your Makefile: USE_INC_LIBTOOL_VER= 15 With this change, ports that had to add additional libtool hacks to prevent .la files from being installed or to fix certain threading issues can now delete those hacks (after appropriate testing, of course). PR: 63944 Based on work by:eik and marcus Approved by: ade (autotools maintainer) Tested by: kris on pointyhat Bound to be hidden problems: You bet

v. 1.31 date: 2004/04/05 03:30:51; author: marcus; state: Exp; lines: +1 -1 Chase the glib20 update, and bump all affected ports' PORTREVISIONs.
v. 1.30 date: 2004/03/14 06:16:08; author: ade; state: Exp; lines: +1 -1 Whoa there, boy, that's a mighty big commit y'all have there... Begin autotools sanitization sequence by requiring ports to explicitly specify which version of {libtool, autoconf, automake} they need, erasing the concept of a "system default". For ports-in-waiting: USE_LIBTOOL=YES -> USE_LIBTOOL_VER=13 USE_AUTOCONF=YES -> USE_AUTOCONF_VER=213 USE_AUTOMAKE=YES -> USE_AUTOMAKE_VER=14 Ports attempting to use the old style system after June 1st 2004 will be sorely disappointed.
v. 1.29 date: 2004/02/04 05:19:03; author: marcus; state: Exp; lines: +1 -0 Bump PORTREVISION on all ports that depend on gettext to aid with upgrading. (Part 2)
